Most Romantic Elvis Movies – Perfect for Valentine’s Day

Most Romantic Elvis Movies

With 31 films, not including concerts/documentaries, many tend to be romantic. Valentine’s Day is right around the corner.

If you’re planning on spending a nice night home, put these movies on top of your watch-list. These movies will keep the Elvis fan in your life happy and get the mood just right.

  1. Girl Happy

Though it is filled with conflict, watching the relationship bloom and evolve into something sweet and innocent makes this one of Elvis’s most romantic movies. Puppet On A String, one of the songs from the film, is a perfect song to get up and dance to while watching the movie.

  1. Fun In Acapulco

Elvis, once again, gets himself into an odd love triangle. True love shines through and Elvis is able to charm his way back into his loves heart. The atmosphere of Mexico and Elvis’s romance really makes this a good choice for Valentine’s Day.

  1. Viva Las Vegas

This was definitely love at first sight. When Elvis’s character laid eyes upon Ann-Margaret’s character, he knew he had to have her. After failing at pursuing her time and time again, she eventually gave in. Though she was jealous of his second love, race car driving, she decided he was worth it.

Whether it’s sports, work, and some other hobby, I think many can relate to her feelings. Their love and chemistry throughout the film really makes this a very romantic film for Valentine’s Day.

  1. Blue Hawaii

It may be the setting of beautiful Hawaii, but this is one of Elvis’s most romantic movies. Much like his other films, there are conflicts in his relationship. That being said, you never doubt how much he loves Maile – his girlfriend – but she doesn’t always know it.

As he continues to make something of himself and prove to her his loyalty, a beautiful love story unfolds and the ending is everything you’d hope it would be.

(I may just love this one a little bit more now as my husband and I honeymooned in Hawaii. He did rent a car and let me visit the filming spots from this movie!)

  1. G.I. Blues

Elvis intentions are not always good in this film, but his character evolves. After making a bet that involves a woman, he ends up falling for her. She happens to be sassy and hard to get, but Elvis always seems to find a way into a woman’s heart.

Seeing how much Elvis wants to be better for her makes this one of the most romantic Elvis movies – in my opinion.

  1. Frankie and Johnny

Personally, I think this is the most romantic Elvis movie. It is clear Johnny loves his Frankie, but he has a funny way to show it. Obsessed with gambling, he is always looking for his lucky charm. When he thinks he has found it, it happens to be another woman. Frankie is not too thrilled about this and Johnny spends his time trying to convince her of his loyalty. Little does he know his good luck charm is already with him.

The chemistry between Elvis and Donna Douglas is undeniable. One of the best scenes of this film is Elvis singing Please Don’t Stop Loving Me to Donna Douglas.

There are many other films Elvis made, but not all are romantic. Some honorable mentions include: Tickle Me, It Happened at the World’s Fair, Harum Scarum, Speedway, and Change of Habit.

If you are planning on having a quiet night at home, put these movies on in the background and make this Valentine’s Day an Elvis theme.

  1. I love all your choices. When I was a kid we used to have the Four ‘o clock movie on weekdays and we loved Elvis week. While Frankie & Johnny was my favorite as a little girl, Viva Las Vegas took over when I got older. The sexy chemistry between Elvis and Ann Margaret is just too much. Whew!!
