It Happened At The World’s Fair (1963)
“When boy meets girl and then they never part again, but live forever happily, like you and me”
This movie brings me so much joy. Elvis looks slick and is just too cool for his own good. It Happened at the World’s Fair was released April 3rd, 1962. Directed by Norman Taurog, this musical was filmed on location at the 1962 World’s Fair. Elvis stars are Mike Edwards, a pilot, who finds out his business partner Danny gambles away the money he set aside to pay their debts. They find themselves without their airplane named Bessie. If they cannotfind money in 12 days the plane would be auctioned off. Hitching a ride with Walter Ling and his niece Sue-Lin, they end up in Seattle, Washington where the 1962 World’s Fair is taking place. Mike somehow ends up taking Sue-Lin to the World’s Fair. Mike meets Diane Warren, a nurse, and pays a little boy (played by a young Kurt Russell) to kick him in the shin and as a result, he sees her again.

He ends up in a love triangle with another woman, Dorothy Johnson.

Sue-Lin’s uncle disappears, therefore leaving Mike responsible for her. Diane wants to inform the Welfare Board about the situation, but Mike saves the day and finds where Walter ended up and the movie has a very happy ending.

This movie has always been one of my favorites. Elvis is just so sweet to little Sue-Lin and she is too cute for words. I found Elvis’s character to be very sneaky (much like other characters he has portrayed). I love Elvis’s wardrobe for this film as well. He has such a presence about him in this film that keeps me wanted more. After all, you can never have too much Elvis.
Until we meet again,
